How to add your salon to Google Maps, for free, from your phone

You can add your salon to Google Maps for free from your phone: open the Google Maps app, tap “Contribute”, then “Add place”, then “Is this your business?”, fill in your salon’s details and verify it with Google. If your salon is already on the map, you claim that pin instead.

This guide follows Google’s help pages step by step: verification, fixing a misplaced pin, filling in your profile like a salon, and turning it into bookings and reviews.

In short

  • Adding or claiming your salon on Google Maps is free, and works from your phone.
  • Google takes up to 5 business days to review a verification; most postcards arrive within 14 days.
  • To move a misplaced pin, tap “Edit profile”, “Location”, then “Adjust”; edits usually show in about 10 minutes.
  • Never share your Google password or a verification code: add helpers as managers.
  • Add your booking link under “Booking”, and ask every client for a review, with nothing in return.

It is free: no need to pay a pin service

Pinning a place can mean saving it for yourself or putting your shop on the map for everyone. For a salon, it means the second: a Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business, the free listing of your business on Google Search and Maps. Once you add and verify it, clients find your salon with its address, hours, photos and reviews.

Google says you can add or claim your business at no charge. It also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google.

What pin services charge

Pin services sell this work in Thailand. In October 2026, a Fastwork listing asked 500 THB to pin a shop and 3,000 THB for a full package, and an agency asked 3,000 THB per location. Every step below is free and works on a phone. If you still prefer to hire someone, read this first.

Add your salon, or claim the pin that already exists

Start by searching your salon’s name in Google Maps, since someone may have added it already. Then follow the case that matches yours.

Your salon is not on the map yet

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. At the bottom, tap “Contribute”, then “Add place”, then “Is this your business?”.
  3. Fill in your salon’s details, then tap “Continue”.
  4. Choose a verification option and follow the steps on screen.

You can also open business.google.com/add in your phone’s browser and tap “Add your business to Google”.

Your salon is on the map but not verified

  1. Open your salon’s profile in the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap “About”, then “Claim this business”, then “Manage now”.
  3. Choose a verification option and follow the steps on screen.

Someone else already verified it

If a former owner or an agency holds the profile, go to business.google.com/add, enter your salon’s name and address, choose it in the list and select “Request Access”. Fill in the form: the current owner gets an email, and if they do not reply, you may get the option to claim the profile.

The table below sums up each case, with the time Google gives.

Verify your salon: the options and how long it takes

Verification proves to Google that you run the salon. Open your profile and tap “Get verified”: Google picks the methods you can use from your business type, region and hours, and you cannot change them.

  • “Phone or SMS”: a code by call or text, to enter on your profile
  • “Email”: follow the steps in the email
  • “Business video”: a recording made and uploaded from your phone
  • “Live video call”: with Google support, during your opening hours
  • “Postcard”: a 5-digit code sent by mail

When video is offered, Google recommends it. The recording must last at least 30 seconds, in one unedited take filmed live. Show a street sign or the building number, your salon’s name on a permanent sign, and something only staff can open, such as the cash register or the storage room.

Once you finish, Google takes up to 5 business days to review, rarely longer, and emails you when you are verified. Most postcards arrive within 14 days, and the code expires after 30 days. While you wait for one, do not change your salon’s name, address or category, or the code will not work.

Fix a pin in the wrong place, from your phone

A pin on the wrong building sends clients to the wrong door. Once the profile is yours, you can move the pin in the Google Maps app:

  1. Tap “Business” at the bottom right.
  2. Tap “Edit profile”, then “Location”.
  3. Next to “Business location”, tap “Edit”.
  4. Tap “Adjust”, then move the map until the pin points to your salon.
  5. Tap “Done”, then “Save”.

Edits usually show in about 10 minutes, and sometimes take up to 30 days. If your salon moved, change the address on the same profile instead of creating a new one, then verify again, as Google requires after a move. If the profile is not yours yet, claim it first, or suggest an edit from the listing.

Once the pin is right, test it the way a client would.

Fill in your profile like a salon

Google says businesses with complete and accurate info are more likely to show up in local search results. From your profile, check each of these:

  • Name: exactly as on your sign, with no added keywords, since Google can suspend a profile for unnecessary info in the name
  • Category: the most specific one, as in Google’s own example, “Nail salon” rather than “Salon”
  • Services: tap “Edit services” and add each treatment with its price and description
  • Hours: your usual hours, plus special hours for holidays
  • Photos: your sign from the street, the inside of the salon and your work, sharp and without heavy filters
  • Website: your own site, if you have one

Photos only show once the profile is verified, and can take 24 to 48 hours to appear. If you have no website yet, SeeU includes a salon website ready for Google: your name, address, hours, prices and reviews are laid out the way Google likes to read them, with a Book button on every page.

Why your salon does not show up on Google Maps

If clients cannot find your salon, check these causes in order. Each one comes from Google’s help pages.

  1. Not verified: only verified businesses can show their info on Maps and Search.
  2. Edits still under review: usually up to 10 minutes, sometimes up to 30 days.
  3. A new profile: rankings for new businesses can take up to a month to appear.
  4. A duplicate: a second profile for the same salon is not shown, so remove it or suggest a merge on Google Maps.
  5. A suspension: a profile that breaks Google’s guidelines is hidden until you fix the issue, and you get a notification.

Then comes ranking. Local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, and popularity depends on how well known your salon is, including how many reviews it has. A complete profile and more reviews help, but nobody can pay Google for a better place on the map.

Next step: bookings from your profile

A verified profile shows your salon; a booking link lets clients book from it without calling or chatting. Google says health and beauty businesses can add a booking button to their profile.

  1. Open your profile: tap “Business” in the Google Maps app, or search “my business” on Google.
  2. On Google Search, select “Booking”. In Google Maps, tap “Edit profile”, then “Booking”.
  3. Select “Add link”, paste your booking link, then select “Save”.

You can add up to 10 booking links and set one as “Business preferred”. SeeU gives your salon its own booking link to share on Google, LINE and Instagram: clients pick a service, a person and a free time, and the booking lands in your calendar. It is a link you paste yourself, not a connection to Google, and every client gets a reminder 24 hours and 2 hours before. You can also list your salon on the SeeU marketplace, where clients look for a salon and book.

More Google reviews, within Google’s rules

Reviews show next to your profile on Maps and Search, and more of them can help your local ranking. Ask every client, with your Google review link or a QR code at the front desk.

Never offer anything in exchange, not even a discount: Google strictly prohibits incentives for reviews. With SeeU, automatic Google review requests go out after the visit (Premium), as a simple request with nothing in return.

If you would rather not set up your profile alone, the SeeU team can help you create or claim it. Verification always stays with Google, and nobody can buy your salon a better place on the map.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to add my salon to Google Maps?

Yes. Google says you can add or claim your business at no charge, and there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. Ads are a separate, paid product: with Google Ads, your salon can appear beside, above or below results on Google Maps.

How long does Google verification take?

Google says verification reviews take up to 5 business days once you complete the steps, and rarely longer. If you verify by postcard, most codes arrive within 14 days and expire after 30 days. You get an email when your salon is verified.

Can I pin my salon on Google Maps from my phone?

Yes. In the Google Maps app, tap “Contribute”, then “Add place”, then “Is this your business?”, and fill in your details. Video verification is also recorded and uploaded from your phone. To open your profile later, tap “Business” at the bottom right of the app, or search “my business” on Google.

Why doesn’t my salon show up on Google Maps?

The usual causes are a profile that is not verified, edits still under review, a duplicate profile or a suspension. Google also says rankings for new businesses can take up to a month to appear, and that local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and popularity.

How do I add a booking button to my Google Maps listing?

Open your profile and select “Booking” (in Google Maps: “Edit profile”, then “Booking”), then “Add link”. Paste your booking link and save: Google says health and beauty businesses can add a booking button. With SeeU, you paste your SeeU booking link there, and the bookings land in your SeeU calendar.

Do I need to pay someone to pin my salon?

No. Every step is free in Google’s own tools. If you hire help, keep the profile in your own Google account and add the helper as a manager instead of sharing your password. The SeeU team can also help you create or claim your profile, and Google does the verification.
